This delicious sweet bread is fantastic as a sweet breakfast dish or just a sweet snack for gatherings!
Ingredients
  • unbaked dough (see note 1)
  • spray grease
  • 1 - 2 sticks butter
  • sugar
  • cinnamon
Instructions
  1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit
  2. Spray a tube pan or bundt pan with the spray grease. (see note 2)
  3. Put the butter in a bowl in the microwave to melt
  4. Mix together the sugar and cinnamon to taste. I usually use about ¼ cup cinnamon for each cup of sugar, but you could add more or less cinnamon depending on your preferences.
  5. Pull the dough into small lumps the size of a silver dollar or bigger.
  6. Dunk the dough into the butter, then roll in the cinnamon sugar mixture. Once covered, drop into the pan.
  7. Continue until you've used all of the dough. Try and keep the mixture even.
  8. Sprinkle any remaining sugar on the top of the dough
  9. Cut the butter in to small pads and place around the top of the dough. This will help the top layer from getting too dry
  10. Place in the oven and bake for 20 - 30 minutes. Dough should be cooked all the way through.
  11. Let set in the pan for a few minutes, then upend onto a plate. Enjoy! (see note 3 for additional ideas)
Notes
1. I usually make my own dough in the bread maker and simply use a 2 lb loaf. However, you can also use 4 tubes of refrigerator biscuits or any kind of yeast-based dough you wish. It must be the kind of dough that you knead to work properly.
2. A regular cake pan will not work with this recipe, as the dough in the middle will not cook properly. I imagine a cupcake pan would work but I have not tried it. I prefer a bundt pan myself.
3. For a yummy twist, try adding a powdered sugar glaze to the top (for a cinnamon bun taste) or toss some nuts in for a crunch!
