Serves: 4 servings

Ingredients
  • 1 lb hamburger
  • ½ cup finely chopped onion (optional)
  • ½ teaspoon garlic salt
  • ¼ cup flour
  • ⅓ cup dill pickle liquid
  • ⅓ cup milk
  • ⅓ cup chopped dill pickles
  • 2 cups cheese** (American or Velveeta is best)
Instructions
  1. Make your crust according to the directions. Preheat oven to 425 and precook the crust until it's just barely brown, usually 10 - 15 minutes. Set out to cool.
  2. Brown hamburger and onion* in a skillet until brown. Drain.
  3. Put hamburger mix in a bowl ans sprinkle with garlic salt and flour.
  4. Chop pickles and add to mix.
  5. Add one cup of the cheese to the mix***
  6. Stir in pickle liquid and milk, stirring thoroughly to coat.
  7. Spoon into pie crust and bake for 15 minutes or until cheese is melted.
  8. Add remaining cheese to the top, then bake for another 5 minutes until crust is golden brown. Serve warm and refrigerate leftovers.
Notes
* If you don't want to use onion, you can instead sprinkle 1 teaspoon of onion powder on the meat while cooking.
** If you are intending to add any additional ingredients like bacon, BBQ or ketchup, you may want to use less cheese. I prefer very cheesy pie myself.
*** I have found that velveeta cheese tastes best inside the pie while American on top gives it a more cheeseburger-like taste.
