Classic Chocolate Chip Cookie

Ingredients
  • 2 sticks softened butter
  • ¾ cup brown sugar
  • ¾ cup white sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 eggs
  • 2½ cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • dash of salt
  • 1 bag of chocolate chips
  • 1 cup oatmeal or chopped nuts
Instructions
  1. Preheat the oven to 375 and grease two cookie sheets
  2. In a medium bowl, cream together the butter, brown sugar, and white sugar.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk the eggs and vanilla.
  4. Add the egg mixture to the butter and mix until there are no more lumps and it is thoroughly mixed in.
  5. in a large bowl, add the flour, baking soda, and salt together. Mix well.
  6. Combine the flour mixture to the butter egg mixture in increments, stirring together to form a dough.
  7. Dump in the chocolate chips and nuts or oatmeal.
  8. Drop by spoonful onto the greased cookie sheet, leaving at least an inch and a half between cookies.
  9. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the bottoms of the cookies are browned. Let cool on countertop for a few minutes before serving. Store in an airtight container.
