Whether you’ve been homesteading and living off the grid for years or you’re still new to the idea of sustainable, old-fashioned living there are always more things to learn and problems to be solved. While you can learn a lot from researching at the library or on the internet, sometimes you just need someone to explain it to you (or, at least, I do!).
Mother Earth News has a whole page devoted to free classes aimed at homesteaders living around the country. Topics include Preparedness, Gardening and Food Preservation, Livestock, Renewable Energy, Modern Homesteading, DIY Projects and more. There are about 20 classes listed right now, but they do add classes on occasion. You can check out the listings here.
Unfortunately, there aren’t any classes in my state, but if you live in California, Colorado, Kentucky, Maryland, Massachusetts, Ohio, Utah, Virginia, Washington or Ontario, then you might have the opportunity to pick up some new skills! Of course, if you’re already a homesteading master, there is also an option to host your own class! From what I can tell, listing a hosted event does not require any payment or anything.
